Certified Home Inspector Michael Thompson

Introducing Your Inspector

Michael is proud to be a US Veteran, serving his country in the US Marine Corps. After his service, he spent 19 years working in technical sales for concrete masonry construction products. He then dedicated the next 13 years to being a Dupont Tyvek specialist for commercial and multifamily air and moisture systems.

He has extensive training in air and moisture management in structures and building science. While working for Dupont Tyvek, Michael performed thousands of commercial and multifamily inspections of the exterior. His primary focus was to prevent moisture and air intrusion into structures.

Next, he spent time as a project manager for framing/waterproofing for a custom home builder. During this time Michael became interested in providing home inspections. His cousin is a home inspector and inspired Michael to look into it as a career for himself. He was looking for a way to help people and utilize his previous background, and he’s found the perfect fit with home inspections!

Special Industry Tools

Using special industry tools allows Michael to get a much more thorough understanding of the home or business in question. Rather than simply doing a visual inspection, Michael is able to go much further without causing any damage to the property.

His tools include:

Thermal Imaging – There are many issues that can’t be spotted by the human eye. Fortunately, thermal imaging makes this much easier. We can tell where hot spots are, whether there is enough insulation in your walls, etc. as a result of thermal imaging.

Aerial Drone Photography – Going onto your roof may not be safe. It’s a good thing we use an aerial drone to capture close-up images of the roof! This industry tool gives us much more information than we could have gleaned from physically walking your roof.

Moisture Meter – Steer clear of moisture issues by letting us use a moisture meter. This device detects the presence of moisture, and it also seeks out any accumulated mold growths.
